Case Study

Quarrel over priority seat in Singapore MRT (Subway)...
Click to watch: Ah Lian VS Auntie
A commotion:
In this case of Ah Lian (It's a Singlish expression meaning a woman perceived to be loutish and uncouth, and who follows fashion trends but is often viewed as lacking taste.) VS Auntie (Married or older woman), Auntie was fed-up with Ah Lian's attitude when she asked her to give up the priority seat. Ah Lian on the other hand, felt that she should be appreciated and not disciplined by an unknown Auntie in public. In order to hide her embarrassment, she changed the topic by vehemently challenging Auntie for taking a photo of her without permission. Auntie countered back with all her rights about the priority seat and threatened Ah Lian that she will post this incident and her photo in the newspaper.
My comments: As far as I am concerned, every seat in the train is a priority seat!  Passengers who are sitting down can always give their seats away to those who needs it, one does not require high education to understand that simple rule. Seriously to be fair, all passengers who have paid the fare have their rights to take up any available seat in the train.  However, it would be courteous for anyone to give away one's seat to those that need it most. Especially for those destinated seats that have a sign written as priority seat, then whoever sat on it should get ready to move his/her butt off the seat and the one who took it should thank the kindness of others.
Unfortunately in this scenario...one has an attitude problem and the other one stood firmly on her divine rights!
My Quotes: 1) A privilege should not be mistaken as an entitlement. 2) Be courteous!

A young man shoving an elderly woman off a public transport on Jun 7, 2012.
Click to watch: Shoved an elderly woman off a bus on Singapore news Channel 5
A commotion: An old lady has pressed the bell on the bus a little bit too late, had agitated a 25 years-old young man, Alex Ong. He has demonstrated his anger by shoving her off the bus after he threatened to slap her. He was totally upset with the elderly woman for holding up the bus and all he wanted was to educate her on how to use the public transport. Alex Ong later claimed that he has clinical depression and was bullied when he was in school. From his facebook: "Now, I know I should never have done this, but if you were in my shoes, you of course could have exploded as well."
My comments: Seriously, I am not sure if Alex Ong is aware of his problem and the mistake that he had made even he had apologized for his action towards the elderly woman in his blog. We all have our moments, sometimes we just forgot to press the bell for the reason being old age, day dreaming or just simply assuming someone else would. For whatever reason, this is just a very small issue that should not agitate anyone, I mean bad enough to react so violently. Obviously, Alex has an anger mangement problem and is terribly disturbed.  I strongly believe that a person with depression or no deprssion does not give anyone the cart blanche credit to behave as if like the king of the world. Anyone who is not able to live by the society's norms is an issue to the public because it would be like a walking time bomb, not knowing when it will explode!
My Quotes: 1) Count to 5 and you will be cool! 2) King of the world is a lonely world.
